**TL;DR:** Cronometer's new AI feature is not accurate and now they're pushing paywalls. Anyone else frustrated?

So, I've been using Cronometer for a while now during my cutting phase, and I was excited when they announced their new AI feature for food logging. I thought it would make tracking my meals easier, but man, it's been a nightmare. The database accuracy has taken a serious hit since they rolled it out. I'll scan my meals and it just can't recognize basic foods like chicken breast or sweet potatoes. Like, are you kidding me?

And then there's the paywall issue. They introduced some features that require premium access, which feels like a money grab to me. I get it, developers gotta eat too, but it's frustrating when you're trying to hit your macros and suddenly can't because you're not paying an extra fee. I briefly tried Yazio but ended up going back to Cronometer because I liked the nutrient breakdown. Now I'm questioning that decision.

Anyone else dealing with this? Is the AI feature working for you guys, or is it just me? I feel like I'm backtracking instead of making progress. Would love to hear your thoughts and if there's a workaround or something I'm missing

I've been running a lot lately and switched to MacroFactor. That algorithm just works for me, and honestly, it helps me stay on track with my long runs. Worth the price for sure, especially compared to the headaches from Cronometer lately.

I totally agree, man. I was pumped about the AI too, but it's been a mess for me as well. I tried logging my meal prep of chicken breast, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, and it didn't even recognize them. I'm starting to think the old method was better, even if it took longer.

Okay but can we talk about how frustrating it is when you scan something and it says 'unknown food'? It's like, I'm literally holding a sweet potato! Like what do you mean?!

Yeah, facts. I had a similar issue when I tried using the AI feature. Like, how hard is it to recognize chicken breast? I'm just saying, some food is too basic for an AI to screw up. I think they rushed it out.

I think they're trying to compete with other apps, but it's backfiring. I mean, what's next? Paying for every scan? 😂 They should really focus on fixing what's broken first.

I just wanna run my marathons without stressing over tracking. I hear Nutrola has a feature for syncing with Strava too. That sounds super helpful for runners like us!

I just want my food logged without a hassle, you know? Sometimes I think about switching to something else, but then I wonder if it will be better or just another headache. Anyone tried that new Nutrola app? I hear it's pretty solid.

I switched to Nutrola because the voice logging feature is perfect for me. I'm busy with school and work, and typing everything out was too much. Now I just speak what I eat, and it logs it for me. Super convenient!

Honestly, I'm just here to figure out how to not mess up my meal prep. I tried to log my tofu stir-fry and the AI just went blank. I think I'll stick with counting on my fingers for now. 😂

100% agree with you, the AI feature has been pretty rough for me too. I tried scanning my chicken breast and it thought it was some weird dish from a food truck. It's frustrating because I rely on Cronometer for the micronutrient breakdown while cutting, but I feel like I'm just backtracking. Have you considered switching to something like Nutrola? Their photo logging takes like 2 seconds and you can just snap pics of your meals without worrying about typing everything out. It's been way less stressful for me. I'm getting in my macros without the hassle of mislabeling everything. Just a thought!

It's funny how we get so attached to these apps. I was an MFP user for years because it just worked for me. But now with all this paywall stuff, I can see why you feel ripped off. Gotta keep an eye on those sneaky subscriptions.

I agree, the paywall creep is wild now. I get that developers need money, but charging for basic features feels off, especially when we rely on these apps to manage our health. It's a delicate balance.

I mean, the AI can't even recognize basic food? That's a huge fail. I'd rather just scan the barcode on my snacks than guess what I ate. This is why I'm still using MyFitnessPal. Sure, it has its flaws, but at least it knows what a banana is.

i hear you on the paywall. I'm tempted to try out Nutrola, but honestly, I'm kinda skeptical about the AI food recognition too. What if it's just as bad?

I get that skepticism! I was worried too, but Nutrola's accuracy has been surprisingly solid for me. The food database is really well-verified, so I've had fewer issues compared to others. Plus, no ads in the free tier is a huge win.

Honestly, i think it's a skill issue if the AI can't recognize food. I'm not mad, just disappointed. Maybe we just need a little more time for these features to improve.

Honestly, nothing major to complain about with Nutrola for me. Just a little getting used to coming from MFP. The voice logging feature makes it a breeze while I'm cooking or busy with school.

What's crazy is that I used to love Cronometer for its nutrient breakdown. Now with this AI feature, it feels like I'm doing more work than I need to. Did you all notice the premium features are getting more aggressive too?

- **gymratbutchill** (score 1, 2026-01-25T13:11:14.413+00:00)
To be honest, I wish I could find an app that combines the best features of all these trackers. A little bit of Cronometer's data nerdiness, MFP's speed, and none of the annoying paywalls. Is that too much to ask?

- **dadbod_dreams** (score 1, 2026-01-26T11:01:04.489+00:00)
I'm all about efficiency. If the app isn't helping me streamline my tracking, I don't want it. That's why I still keep MFP on standby, even if it has its quirks.

  - **squat_to_pizza** (score 2, 2026-01-26T10:11:45.903+00:00)
Yeah, my friends are all about trying these new apps, but I feel like if it ain't broke, don't fix it. MFP might be annoying, but at least I know it works most of the time.
