**TL;DR:** Yazio just put a paywall on the barcode scanner, and I'm not happy about it.

I've been using Yazio for a while now, and honestly, I was really liking it until they decided to slap a paywall on the barcode scanner feature. I find it super frustrating since I rely on that to log my food quickly, especially with my busy schedule. I tried Cronometer for a bit, but I didn't vibe with the layout.

Is anyone else feeling the pain of these constant paywalls? What are you switching to that doesn't break the bank?

I had a chuckle when I saw this post, because I've been feeling the same way. I tried CalAI but it was a hot trash experience, didn't recognize half the stuff I scanned. I ended up going back to MyFitnessPal for now, but I might check out Nutrola for the photo logging. Might save me some time on meal prep.

yep, the paywall situation is getting out of hand. I've been using MyFitnessPal for a while, and while the ads can be annoying, the food database is so dialed in for me that I can't bring myself to switch. Just hit a new PR on my bench today too, so I guess I'll keep using it for now.

This is why I avoid apps that keep adding features behind paywalls. I'm just looking for something straightforward. I used Cronometer too, but the layout felt cluttered and confusing. I recently tried Nutrola and the photo logging feature is slick for me. I can snap a pic and it logs the food instantly, which saves so much time.

I'm not sure about switching to Nutrola. I tried it briefly, but felt overwhelmed by the new layout. I think I'll stick with MyFitnessPal for now, since I know how to navigate it and the database has been reliable for my vegan meals. But I get the frustration with the paywalls.

facts, the food logging apps are getting crazy with these paywalls. I switched to MacroFactor last month and honestly, the algorithm just works for me. It's about $80 a year, but it adjusts your targets based on your progress, which has been super motivating. Plus, I love the in-depth analysis on my macros.

Honestly, I've been using Nutrola for a few weeks and I appreciate the RD-verified database. It really helps me with my meal planning since I have dietary restrictions. The barcode scanner also finds niche brands, which is a win when I'm trying to log specific products that are hard to find elsewhere
