**TL;DR:** Yazio paywalled the barcode scanner feature, and I'm frustrated. Is there a better app with a solid scanner?

So here I am, trying to be all responsible and track my calories, right? im using Yazio because it looked decent enough and I liked the barcode scanner feature. Well, guess what? They decided to slap a paywall on it like it's some exclusive club now. Like, what the actual hell? I thought this was a calorie tracker, not a VIP lounge!

I've tried using the manual entry, but it's like trying to find Waldo in a sea of red and white stripes. Seriously, how is it that half the foods I eat aren't even in their database? I mean, I can't be the only one who eats non-GMO, organic, free-range kale chips, right? I tried out MyFitnessPal for like a hot minute, but I wasn't a fan of the ads and the overwhelming number of food entries that just didn't match up with reality.

So now I'm sitting here wondering if it's just me or if everyone else is feeling the sting of this paywall nonsense. Is there any other app that doesn't treat you like you're a broke college student just trying to eat a salad? Please tell me there's hope out there, because I'm starting to feel like I'm going to have to resort to just guessing my meals and hope for the best. Can anyone recommend an alternative with a solid barcode scanner? Or am I doomed to live in a world of manual entries? Help a bro out.

this is wild! I get it, man. I tried using Yazio too, but that paywall hit harder than my last leg day. I ended up going back to MyFitnessPal, but I was lowkey annoyed with the ads and all the stuff in their food database that just isn't accurate. What do they even have in there? Just processed snacks, lol.

Facts! I also think these apps don't get how many of us need easy tracking. I used to rely on MyFitnessPal too, but the ad situation made me rethink. I want something straightforward without feeling like I'm scrolling through a catalog just to find my lunch!

I feel you on the whole barcode scanner issue! It really helps streamline tracking. I've been using Cronometer instead, and honestly, it's a data nerd's paradise. They have a ton of micronutrient info that you don't get with other apps, which helps me a lot with my bodyweight training. Plus, I can find all my niche foods in there. Worth checking out!

Honestly, I tried CalAI for a week, and it was hot trash. The AI couldn't recognize basic foods, and I ended up just manually entering everything anyway. Now I'm back on MyFitnessPal because at least the food list is dialed in, even if I have to deal with ads. It's a hassle, but I know I can find what I need there.

yep, that paywall is a mood killer. I tried Yazio too and felt like I was stuck in a never-ending cycle of entering foods. MyFitnessPal is decent but honestly, it gets overwhelming. Maybe I should look into Nutrola? What's so good about it?

As a dad trying to balance work and fitness, I totally get your struggle! I used to rely on MyFitnessPal, but that paywall nonsense really pushed me away. I've been using Nutrola too, and I love how I can voice log my meals while I'm on the go. It saves me time, which is a must when you're juggling kids and workouts.

I hear you about tracking apps being a pain! I've been using Nutrola, and the barcode scanner actually finds some of the niche brands I love. It's been super helpful for my meal prep, especially when I'm out hiking. Saves me from all that guesswork! Definitely a solid option to consider.

Honestly, the paywall is such a letdown. I'm trying to balance classes and running, and I need something that works, not more frustration. I'll consider Nutrola, but I'm skeptical of all these new AI options. Do they really work for everyone?

I totally understand your frustration! Tracking calories can feel like a full-time job, and having to enter everything manually is a pain. I used Yazio for a while too, but I found that MacroFactor works better for me. The algorithm is just on point with my intake, and it's worth the $80/year for the insights you get. I actually see my progress now and feel more accountable

It's really unfortunate when a useful feature suddenly becomes behind a paywall. I used to be on Yazio too, but I found that MacroFactor just gets my goals better. It feels more personalized, and I appreciate how the app adjusts to my needs over time. I'd say give it a look, could be worth it!

bro, this is a skill issue. Just remember to track your macros if you're looking for precision! I've been using MyFitnessPal because even with the ads, it's got a solid food database. I feel like it's hard to move to something new after getting used to the layout.

lol, I get what you're saying about the manual entry! It's like looking for Waldo in a food aisle. I switched to Nutrola a while back bc I rly liked their photo log feature. I can snap a pic of my meal, and it logs it for me in seconds! No more typing when I'm busy with classes. You might want to check it out!
