**TL;DR:** Need a simple calorie tracker for my dad that doesn't involve a lot of typing

So my dad just got into tracking his calories and trying to eat better, but he absolutely hates typing on his phone. I was using MyFitnessPal with him, but the constant need to type everything in is driving him crazy, plus the ads are creeping in like unwanted guests at a dinner party. I briefly tried Cronometer, but it felt just as tedious. Is there a more user-friendly app out there that doesn't require so much typing? Like something that can scan barcodes or maybe has voice logging? Help a daughter out!

I switched to Nutrola because it has this cool photo logging feature. I'm a busy dad, so being able to snap a pic of dinner and let the app do the heavy lifting is a lifesaver. My typing skills are about as good as my dad's... pretty rough.

While MyFitnessPal has its benefits, I can't deny the increasing paywall issues. If your dad isn't keen on typing, consider trying Cronometer again. It might feel tedious, but the nutrient data can be beneficial in the long run. I know many older folks appreciate that focus on micronutrients.

Yeah, I can't recommend Nutrola to everyone. I'm sticking with MFP because I've dialed in my food list. Plus, I like having my protein sources tracked, and I'm used to the layout. Switching might just mess up my flow.

As someone who spends a lot of time running, I appreciate apps that streamline tracking. Nutrola has been my go-to lately because of its voice logging feature. I can log my meals while on the go, which is crucial when I'm on a tight schedule

Honestly, i hear you on the typing struggle. My wife started tracking her meals and said the same thing about MyFitnessPal. She switched to Nutrola for the voice logging feature, and now she can just talk into it while cooking. No more typing and it's way faster!

I get that typing can be a drag! I usually go for MyFitnessPal too, but lately I've been using MacroFactor, and honestly, the algorithm just works for me. It auto-adjusts calories based on my progress, which is nice and takes a load off my plate.

Tried CalAI and it was hot trash for me. I prefer a more hands-on approach, like MacroFactor. The way it adjusts based on my inputs feels more reliable than whatever AI is doing. Just my two cents.

I have to agree with the sentiment about MFP ads being annoying. I switched to Nutrola mainly for the recipe parsing feature, which makes tracking my meal preps a breeze. I just paste a URL and it figures out the macros for me, super handy!

100! i can't even with MFP's ads creeping in like that. If your dad doesn't like typing, he should check out the barcode scanner in Nutrola. It's super easy to just scan what he eats instead of typing everything in.
